KTSU2 The Voice, Texas Southern University’s student run multimedia station, is taking innovation to the next level by hosting a block party online tonight.

The block party will be from 8p.m. to 10p.m.  and will consist of a virtual dance party, costume contest, prize giveaways, Greek stroll off, and voter registration drive.

Radio personality “Radio Rich” will be hosting and keeping the good times going as the student body celebrates.

Maiya Turner,  KTSU2 News’ lead anchor and reporter, is one of the coordinators of the event.

“We want to bring students together virtually and create more awareness and excitement about the student run station as it makes its official debut since campus closed its doors due to COVID-19 in May,” Turner said. “We also want students to stay woke and go vote.”

Nahab Fahnbulleh, president of TSU’s internationally noted debate team, will join the virtual celebration, and talk about why voting matters more than ever in 2020.

The music will be pumping as SuperJay, the DJ, rocks the party with the latest hip hop and R&B tunes.

To participate and enter into drawings, students must: 1. Follow KTSU_2 and KTSU2News on Instagram. 2. Post a picture with the school colors, maroon and gray, or costume and include the hashtag #KTSU2VBP.

Students said COVID-19 can’t stop the power of “The Yard” and the new normal can’t stifle the school spirit of Texas Southern University.
