Dr. Lesia Crumpton-Young tapped as sole candidate for TSU president

The sole finalist for Texas Southern University’s next President is Dr. Lesia L. Crumpton-Young, a message posted on the University’s website said.
A confirmation vote by the Board of Regents is scheduled for June 17.
“Dr. Crumpton-Young is an experienced University leader and tireless advocate for students. Her impeccable credentials made her standout among the candidates,” the Board of Regents chair Albert Myres said in a statement on TSU’s website.
He added: “She brings with her an exciting and bold vision for Texas Southern University that aligns with the goals set forth by the Board of Regents.”
Dr. Crumpton-Young, who has 27 years of experience in academia, is the recipient of many awards including the U.S. Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentoring.
Crumpton-Young’s website chronicles her career as an administrator, professor, engineer, author, career coach and cutting-edge-researcher.
“Dr. Crumpton-Young is a visionary who has worked successfully with faculty to create student-centric initiatives and restructure academic degree offerings, as well as insert curriculum and courses to enhance career marketability and vitality of graduates. She has worked to help secure millions of dollars in funding for research initiatives, corporate partnership endeavors, academic scholarships and new facilities,” Crumpton-Young’s website states.
